- Qi energy is invisible, however, the universe is filled with Qi energy, therfore, it exists everywhere.
So, how do you desribe or explain Qi? In ancient time of East Asia, Qi was first described as the moisture slowly evaporating from a bowl of hot rice, and that was the origin of the etymololgy of Qi. As the time passed, it did not just stay as vapor, but became the invisible origin energy that fills universe. In western world, there are similar terms for Qi, and they are: Pneuma, Psyche, Prana, Aura, Vitality, Bio Energy, Human Magnetism, Tachyon, etc.

In 1939, scientists began to study Qi. Semyon D. Kirlian, an electrical technician was able to develope a camera that photographs human aura. And, the scientsts were able to prove the existance of accupuncture points and meridians in oriental herbal medicine scientifically. Moreover, the doctors in Beijing of China, demonstrated an experiment destroying cancer cells with Qi emission. In 1985, ChungWha University in South Korea discovered the fact that fish DNA structure can be altered with Qi energy. Due to many favorable scientific study results on Qi, significant number of highly renown medical schools in the US such as: University of Columbia, Havard, NYU and others have recognized and inducted Qi curative treatment. As a matter of fact, Qi is not a myth any more but has become the major topic of modern science in 21st century.

CAN THE EXISTENCE AND THE EFFECT OF QI BE SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN?
Experiment of Qi emanation on human
EBS (Korean Cable Television Broadcast) on 3/28/2001
These pictures portray Qi emanation experiment conducted at Sung-Mo General Hospital in S. Korea and a teaching staff of Poong Ryu Do was the only participant who showed up although EBS invited several other renown Qi training organizations.
The participant emitting Qi through his palms onto the woman's head.
The experiment was successful as the Qi energy emanated from the participant's hands actually calmed the brain waves of the woman. The readouts of the experiement is an evidence that Qi energy can be used to reduce the stress level of a person.
What is Free-Radical?
Some of you mighty have already know or heard that the stress creates free-radicals in your body. The modern science discovered that free-radicals are the major culprit of many diseases and againg of your body. Therefore, learning how to develop and control Qi in your body is the most effective way to stop the growth of free-radical level in your body, thereby preventing your body from early aging or getting sick.
Picture: The Poong Ryu Do practitioner successfully decreased the free-radical level of the woman.
The scientist discovered that the animals, which were fed with food enriched with antioxidants or given free-radical suppressant, had 40% ~ 50% longer life span than other animals with no such treatments. The study revealed that the free-radical is the major reason that bring illnesses and fast aging to your body. For that reason, EBS performed the experiment to find out how influential and beneficial the Qi energy is to the health of human body in terms of reducing the free-radical level.
It is quite obvious that oxygen is one of the most essencial elements that human body needs to continue its life. However, it may surprise you that not all oxygen benefits you. There are unevenly charged oxygens, known as "free radicals", can harm your body and even bring death to your body.
The unevenly balanced oxygen (aka. free-radical) used to be a normal oxygen, but it became unstable and active when it lost one of its negative electrons. For example, a camcorder tripod can stand stably by itself with three legs. But the tripod would lose its balance and fall if someone accidentally breaks one of its legs. At this point, the tripod is observed as 'unstable'.
A small amount of the free-radicals in human vescular system is actually benefical to his immune system as it cleanses the white blood cells. But, it becomes problematic when the number of the free radicals drastically increases. Groups of free-radicals instinctively attack normal cells near them and forcibly take negative electrons to become stable. Then, the damaged cells also ransack other neighboring healthy cells to replenish themselves with what they have lost.
As the vicious cycle continues, the lives of many healthy cells shortens due to the damage from a normal life span of 105 days to 90 days, then to 80 days and to 70 days and so forth. This chain reaction eventually ends with premature aging of body and/or weakened immunity to various diseases.
During the process, not just the cells get damanged, but many of them get mutated also. The cells with adversely altered DNA may develop cancer. Currently, the Chemotherapy and the radioactive ray treament are the two most used treatments to fight the cancer, however, the cancer patients must face the dilemma that both of the treatments produce enormous amount of free-radicals.
Then, how do we prevent large number of free-radicals being generated in our body? There are few dietary supplements enriched with antioxidants that can be taken, but it would only be a temporary solution since the amount of intake may not be enough to lower the amount of new free-radicals generated in a day due to the stress. The bottom line is that we must overcome or learn how to manage the stress effectively in order to live long and healthy. In other words, we must learn how to control our mind and way of thinking to stay positive at all times to suppress the free-radical level in our bodies.
As shown above, EBS (South Korean cable television show) conducted two experiments. The first experiment revealed that the participant from Poon Ryu Do successfully calm down the woman's brain waves (the test subject) with Qi energy. The second experiment also proved that using Qi energy is very effective in lowering the free-radical level. The both experiment were successful because the principle of the two are the same; the free-radical level declines when the brain waves calms.
The result of these experiments reveals that learning how to control Qi energy inside you may be the the most practical and efficient way of pursuing a peace of mind, thereby preventing increase of free radicals. Qi practice can bring you the healthy mind and body throughout your life.
We can learn from the experiment that maintaining a peaceful mind is the most efficient way of control the level of free-radicals. Conclusively, Qi-Gong is the major short-cuts to a successful stress management as you can obtain peace in mind by eliminating random thoughts (reducing your brain activities).
What is Sahng-Hwa?
- A study of Free-Radical already has existed for many years in Oriental Herbal Medicine!
This discussion of Qi energy and free radical would be pointless if we already knew how to live our lives with free of stress. It is quite interesting that the stress was already discovered long time ago in Asia, and it was called Sahng Hwa.
The stress was studied few thousand years ago in oriental herbal medicine and was defined philosophically as “an excessive combustion in human body”. The human body consistently burns food and oxgen to generate energy. But, if too much of combustion in human body occurs, the body ages faster and becomes easily susceptive to diseases. Therefore, controlling the amount of energy combustion is called Sahng-Hwa.
Reasonable amount of Sahng-Hwa is benefical as it promotes robust blood and Qi circulation. Otherwise, it may be the major reason for sickness. Therefore, the oriental medicine suggests that Sahng-Hwa can be best managed with Qi-Going.
Jin-Gi and Huh-Gi
- As you need the clean air for a healthy body, you must breathe in Jin-Gi (pure & genuine Qi energy).
There are two kinds of Qi energy; Jin-Gi & Huh-Gi, and there is a clear difference between the two. Let’s allegorize Qi as water. In need of water, you must dig deep into the ground to find groundwater. This groundwater is considered as Jin-Gi. But, if you lack proper equipment and skills to dig a well deep enough, you would fail to obtain sufficient amount of clean water, but wet soil. The moisture in the soil is a good metaphor of Huh-Gi. In summary, ‘Jin-Gi’ can only be obtained and stored by the proper Qi-Gong techniques, whereas only ‘Huh-Gi’ gets generated under compulsion from improper ways of trainings. Commencing a series of simple stretching moves and repeating incantations or positive-thinking only generate Huh-Gi.
Jin-Gi and Huh-Gi are also distinguished from one another by their behavior. Jin-Gi only flows in a set course of pathways (hereinafter called 'Gi-Maek') that were already exists in your body, like blood circulating in one direction via blood vessels. On the other hand, Huh-Gi escapes from Gi-Maek and flows freely. Then, Huh-Gi gets lost and congested somewhere in your body, clogging one of Gi-Maek. As much as the clogs in blood vessels are deadly, congestions in Gi-Maek can cause death.
To date, numerous conventional Qi-Gong practitioners have spoken of their own experiences of Qi energy, but those are quite different from one another. The reason is that most of them have practiced with Huh-Gi.
Can you imagine what would happen if a man's blood flows in a direction that is opposite to it original circulation? The man will probably die. Unfortunately, using Huh-Gi for Gi-Gong is like It. It will damage our health badly that lead to early death. On the contrary, Jin-Gi naturally flows in the same Gi-Maek for all men, therefore those who have practiced Gi-Gong with Jin-Gi should have the same benefits from it without any side effects at all.
