What is Dahn Jeon?

- In Qi Sports, having Dahn Jeon means having a "second heart".  It gathers, stores  and circulates Qi energy in your body.

Some of you may have heard of Dahn Jeon before.  Many conventional Gi-Gong practitioners believe that they can store Qi energy in Dahn Jeon.  They also believe that Dahn Jon is a conceptual that cannot be seen, becasue no one has ever seen it for thousands of years.  Since no one has seen it before, they could only assume its location, that is about two to three inches below your bellybutton and about two to three inches inside of your lower belly.  Also, they only have vague ideas of what it does.

So, what are exactly functions of Dahn Jeon?  In the body of a person there are two hearts.  The first heart is one we all know which pumps and circulates blood throughout the human body.  Dahn Jeon is the second heart that circulates Qi energy throughout our body.  Dahn Jeon has an additional function to it.  It also stores Qi energy gathered from your body and the universe.

Surprisingly, everybody has this second heart; A 2-year old baby has this Dahn Jeon that is viewable.  Hold the baby by the chest with two hands and gently move the baby up and down.  You will then see Dahn Jeon in his lower belly.  It looks like a champion belt that has a large buckle in the front.  The reason is that bones of babies are yet to be hardened as adult, therefore, they are capable to aborb Qi energy through the top of their head, which is still open.

Then, why the audults don't have Dahn Jeon anymore?  As mentioned before, Dahn Jeon functions as it gathers, stores and circulates Qi.  However, as we get old, we use up all the stored Qi energy when we were young and pure.  It is just like a newly dug up ground water well gets depleted after a long time since there is only limited amount of water under the ground.

When a grown man reaches to a point where he completely exhausts Qi energy once stored in his Dahn Jeon, Qi circulation slowly diminishes and death soon follows.  Improper circulation of Qi can also be a disaster. A faulty Qi circulation causes an adverse influence on blood flow, then the cells get dammaged or defective.  Eventually numerous deformed cells will damage the immume system.

In order to prevent damaging your immune system, you can simply rebuild Dahn Jeon.  Rebuilding of Dahn Jon requires replenishing of Qi energy in our body.  The process of replenishing of Qi energy is called "Chook Gi".  Accumulation of Qi energy in Dahn Jeon is very important in Qi Sports as well as other conventional Qi-Gong training centers.  Many conventional Qi training centers consider Dahn Jeon as a container of Qi energy, therefore claims that Dahn Jeon must be recreated prior to storing Qi enegy.  Their claim is incorrect, because Dahn Jeon is not only a Qi container, it is a pure mass of Qi energy.

When sufficient amount of Qi energy gets stored, your waist in the belt line gradually swells and forms a Yin Yang Ssahng Do Tae as shown in the pictures above.  And Yin Yang Ssahng Do Tae is the real Dahn Jeon that contains Tae Geuk inside.

What is Yin Yang Ssahng Do Tae?

- One picture is worth a thousand words!

The above pictures show a man's torso in three different angles.  It is a quite unusual look of human body that the man's lower abdominal (the picture on the upper, left-hand corner) and both left and right side (the pictures on the upper and lower left-hand corners) of the body are noticeably swollen as if the man is wearing a "Champion Belt" (the picture on the lower, left-hand corner).  The champion belt-shaped part is called "Yin Yang Ssahng Do Tae".

Look closely.  The shape of the "Champion Belt" is not formed irregularly.  The lower abdominal is vertically divided in the middle and these are mirror immage of each other.  These contain each "Yin & Yang" of Qi energy, therefore, together it is called "Tae Geuk", the source of dual principal of Yin & Yang.

Is it real Tae Geuk?  Yes.  It is a true Tae Geuk that constantly repeats expansion and contractions to generate and circulate Qi energy in the universe.  By building this Yin Yang Ssahng Do Tae in you body, you can constantly generate, store and circulate Qi energy in your body.

The Yin Yang Ssahng Do Tae will only appear when you want it to show just like flexing your muscle.  As for women, this will form inside of them that they can create slimmer waistline.

Where exactly is Yin Yang Ssahng Do Tae (Dahn Jeon) located in your body?

Until now, Dahn Jeon's (Yin Yang Ssahng Do Tae) looks and functions were discussed.   For the last several thousands years, almost every conventional Gi-Gong trainers have believed that Dahn Jeon is located at an acupressure point in lower abdominal known as "Gi-Hae", which is three centimeters below bellybutton.

- Dahn Jon cannot be formed in a pathway of Qi.

Then, where should Dahn Jeon be established?  "Dae Maek" is the answer.  Dae Maek is the only horizontal Qi pathway in human body, which lies along the belt line, solely to function as the storage.  In a word, Dae Maek itself is not Dahn Jeon but it will transform to Yin Yang Ssahng Do Tae upon sufficient amount of Qi is stored.  Once completed, it can fully function as Qi storage, Qi generator and Q pump.

Thus, Qi Sports is quite distinctive from other conventional Qi Gong styles, but most effective as it offers to create the true Dahn Jeon in Dae Maek, the only horizontal Qi pathway in our bodies.
